I'm glad everything went well when tried this out. My school has our own e-mail accounts and log ins, but they are linked with Google so students can open up Google Docs. I'm not sure how this works, but that could be something to look into, to help teachers that do not have gmails.
I agree with Christine, a gmail account would be a must for this whole thing to transition smoothly. Excellent detail in the sample Calendar, perhaps a bit too much. Maybe instead of having the times in each slot just have 1st hour, 2nd hour, etc.... It would make things a bit easier to read for those teachers who might have difficulties, or be unwilling to change. :) I think the Calendar we use is a custom build? I tried to insert a screen capture, but it wouldn't let me. I'll email it to you. Great ideas, this will be to everyone's benefit.
Not having a Google account would be a definite bump in the road, but I don't think it's difficult to fix. Once teachers create their own Google account they have access not only to the calendar but tons of other tools. You could always send out a survey asking teachers if they have a Google account or not. To those they don't...you could easily create instructions to send to them on how to create one. You could also lead this in a PD event.
